Playing backgammon can be fun, particularly if you know how to succeed by playing excellently. But every now and then a trick or two can help you even more and make you a better player.

One of the best game plans to win is to lock your opponent in. It will prevent them from shifting their pieces away from your home board. This has to be completed at the start of the match to keep your opponents 2 checkers in your home boardthere. So you have to move your pieces to points 7, five, and 4 as quickly as possible and even 2 and three if achievable. Maintain your point of six with the six checkers as it is. This will ensure that your opponent cannot get out of your home board and aid your chances of locking them in to win.

By blocking your opposition in, they will be hoping for double 6’s once all other moves have been made to get those 2 checkers away from your home board. If doubles are not tossed, your opposition will be required to move 1 checker at a time, as long as they get a 6 or better, and leave 1 piece vulnerable behind. Of course while veering off your own pieces, make sure you do not leave one alone where your opposition can send you off the board to make your way through their home board.

When you are not sure what to do, hit. This can help you win because once your challenger is hit, that piece is the piece they must move before they can do anything else on the board. So if you hit them numerous times, they will have to get many pieces back to the board and get past your pieces to win. Be certain you don’t hit where it’ll cause you to be open to being hit yourself. Unless of course it will be advantageous to you, as in early in the game when your opponent won’t have you locked in.

Hitting when you have a barricade started can also be beneficial due to the fact that as soon as you get a few points blocked, your opponent will have a harder time moving their pieces from your home board and defeating you. It is even possible to hit them numerous times and get your lock ready. That way you can barricade them from returning to the game and even being offered an opportunity at crushing you.

These two tips are not the only tactic to succeed, but they are excellent ideas for novices to develop into more skillfull enthusiasts. Once you master these, winning most of the time will not appear to be such a difficult thing to do.
