As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The aim is to shift your pieces safely around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift his checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely stop any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a battered position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your board. As soon as you have successfully built the prime to stop the activity of the competitor, your competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your pieces and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your chances of winning, however the Back Game plan utilizes seperate techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is frequently employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
