As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The aim is to move your pieces safely around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opponent moves their chips toward their home board in the opposite direction. With competing player checkers shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift her checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to completely block any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. After you have successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your opponent, your competitor doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your chips and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to boost your chances of winning, however the Back Game strategy relies on seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game technique is often utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
