As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The goal is to move your chips safely around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely barricade any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or result a damaged position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. Once you have successfully built the prime to prevent the activity of your opponent, your competitor doesn’t even get to roll the dice, and you shift your chips and toss the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions with hope to better your odds of winning, but the Back Game technique relies on alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is frequently used when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
