As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to shift your chips safely around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move his chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any activity of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to block the activity of your competitor, your competitor doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions hoping to better your chances of winning, but the Back Game technique utilizes seperate techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is frequently utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this plan, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
