The goal of a Backgammon game is to move your pieces around the Backgammon board and get those pieces from the board faster than your challenger who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a round of Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. Just how far you can move your pieces is up to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and the way you shift your checkers are decided on by your overall playing tactics. Players use differing techniques in the differing stages of a game dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Technique

The goal of the Running Game tactic is to bring all your chips into your inside board and pull them off as quickly as you can. This plan focuses on the pace of advancing your pieces with little or no time spent to hit or block your opponent’s chips. The best scenario to use this technique is when you think you can move your own checkers faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have less pieces on the game board; 2) all your pieces have past your opponent’s chips; or 3) the opponent doesn’t employ the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The main goal of the blocking plan, by the name, is to stop the competitor’s pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your chips quickly. After you’ve established the barrier for the opponent’s movement with a few pieces, you can move your other pieces swiftly from the board. You really should also have an apparent plan when to back off and shift the chips that you used for blocking. The game becomes interesting when the opponent uses the same blocking tactic.
