As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The goal is to move your pieces safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at particular instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move his pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely block any activity of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a battered position if he/she ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of the opponent, the competitor doesn’t even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions hoping to improve your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy relies on seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is commonly used when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
